BS9999 Fire Safety in the Design, Management and Use of Buildings.

This course will give you a greater understanding of the principles on which BS9999 Fire Safety In the Design, Management and Use of Buildings is based. The application of this code results in increased travel distances, reduced door, exit and staircase widths resulting in an increase in the floor area.

It will also cover the issues of management and the impact of detection and sprinklers to ensure the optimum design is achieved.

Having recently attended the annual IFE Conference in Ireland, I was extremely impressed by the quality of presenters presentations and in particular the presentation delivered by Dr Cristina Paduano. I have produced a video covering her presentation, with her prior approval as I feel this information will give all those in the industry a good insight into the benefits of CFD modelling.

Following a serious fire in Glasgow School of Art, Iain Goodlet gave an excellent presentation on the incident and what we can learn from this. I have produced an online video giving an overview of the incident and incorporated into it the video which was produced by the Scottish Fire Service and is freely available on youtube.

The Vertical Spiral Escape Chute

The vertical Spiral Escape chute is a new innovation in escape design and offers a viable alternative when the primary escape route is compromised.
